The Associazione Italiana di Metallurgia (AIM) plans to repeat and to improve the positive and successful experience of the International Conference "Archaeometallurgy in Europe" organized in Milan in 2003.
The 2nd International Conference "Archaeometallurgy in Europe" 2007 will be organized in Grado and Aquileia (provinces of Gorizia and Udine, Italy) from June 10 to 14, 2007.
The Conference aims at gathering and sharing information on all aspects of the history of metallurgy, covering a wide range of aspects relating to Europaean Archaeometallurgical items dating back from the origins to the first half of the 18th C. AD.
The Conference intends to promote an active dialogue among archaeometallurgy researchers with different specialisations and backgrounds, to create an opportunity to discuss the study of ancient metallurgical processes, conservation science and to discuss the application of modern metallurgical experimental methods and techniques used to investigate, to identify and to date ancient artefacts. Its purpose is also that of creating an interaction between institutions and researchers, to facilitate the integration of different approaches and finally to promote contacts and collaborations between scholars from European and non-European countries and from different research areas.
