The success of the first four conferences under the above title has been beyond expectations. It is with great pleasure that we announce the Fifth event in this series, with the hope that you will be able to join us and contribute to this effort. This year we are honoured by the participation of the Jordanian Department of Antiquities in the active organization of the event, The Legado Andalusi of Granada and The International University of Andalusia of Seville, Spain.

In addition, we are stressing four main themes which we feel should be debated at length.
1- The main theme for this conference will be entitled: “Tourism and Heritage at Risk” The following sub-themes will be emphasized.
a- Tourism as a threat to Cultural Heritage. The negative impacts of Tourism.
b- Terrorism as a threat to Tourism.
c- Heritage and War: How can we protect CH in times of war. The Hague Convention. Case studies from Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon, Eastern Europe, and elsewhere.
d- The Common Heritage: Arabs and Byzantines. The sugar mills and the Crusader campaigns. The Cultural Exchange between East ad West.
e- Natural Disasters and Risk Preparedness. How can benefit from current experience in natural disasters in the protection of CH during times of war.
f- Threatened Sites and Rescue Archaeological Projects.
g- Projects after Excavations.
2- Comparative Archaeology and Architecture the Umayyads and Andalusia. Technology and Science transfer to Spain by the Arabs. The Cultural Exchange
3- Stone and Mortar Preservation Problems: Weathering Studies and Restoration-Conservation Actions
4- The Acoustics of Ancient Theatres
