Cultural Heritage and Archaeological Issues in Materials Science

The objective of this symposium is to present and to discuss the most recent and new research for the study of the cultural heritage and the historical objects and archaeological remains using the most diverse techniques and scientific methodologies, including non destructive methods, nuclear techniques and ion beam accelerators, optical and electronic microscopy, imaging techniques, experimental archaeology, all kind of chemical methods, dating, deterioration studies and conservation procedures.
This forum is open to physicists, chemists, engineers, conservators, archaeologists, art historians, architects restorers and other specialists involved with the scientific study of the cultural heritage and archaeological and historical collections.
This meeting will open a space for the collaborations between different groups and specialists, as well for network and collaboration in the American continent and with European groups.
The symposium will include invited lectures of 30 minutes as well as oral presentations of 15 min, selected by the Committee of the Symposium. Several sessions of posters will be organized and the three most relevant works will be awarded.
A special book including the most outstanding contributions will be published in the MRS proceedings series by Cambridge University Press. So, papers must be submitting by the beginning of the meeting and they will be reviewed in order to finish the editing by October 2011 following the MRS schedule. http://www.mrs-mexico.org.mx/imrc2011/symposium8.php
